How the hell is Hank McCoy human again in X-Men: Days of Future Past? The last time we saw him in X-Men: First Class, he'd been cursed to become blue and furry forever — but now he's back to normal. And according to actor Nicholas Hoult, they came up with a loophole. Not so sure about this.
Hoult explained to JoBlo (during a set visit) that Hank's figured out a way around his mutation:
What's happened up to this point is between the time of the last movie and this movie my character has created a serum which basically controls his mutation so his appearance is normal as long as he doesn't get worked up. Any animal instinct or urges, that kind of brings him out. So yeah, he changes into Beast a few times throughout the story and they've done some great action sequences with him this time, particularly in the mansion flying around on these chandeliers and stuff.
So, as some have pointed out, this makes him into a kind of "Blue Hulk" who only turns blue and furry when he's upset. Clearly this doesn't last forever because he's permanently blue and furry by the time of the original trilogy. Below a still of Beast in blue-and-furry mode from the new movie.
