Great art is often interactive, and captivating design is frequently dynamic. Such is the case with Ghostcube, a beautifully conceived study in topological transfiguration created by Swedish designer Erik Åberg out of interconnected wooden cubes.
Åberg's cubic creations can be expanded, twisted, shrunk and spun into a variety of configurations. His sculptures are manipulable only by hand (and that's certainly the point), but, in watching Åberg maneuver his cubes through a series of conformations, we find ourselves envisioning a similar set of cubes, in the near future, that is capable of rearranging entirely on their own.
Learn more about Åberg's creation – including how to build one for yourself – on his website.
