Die NSA hat in ihrem Intranet eine Kummerkastentante namens Zelda (!), die gute Ratschläge für wichtige Angelegenheiten gibt, wie zum Beispiel „co-workers falling asleep on the job, sodas being stolen from shared fridges, supervisors not responding to emails, and office-mates who smell bad“. Interessant wird es dann, wenn Zelda eine Mail beantwortet, die sich über NSA-interne Spitzeleien beschwert:

Wow, that takes “intelligence collection” in a whole new – and inappropriate – direction. …. We work in an Agency of secrets, but this kind of secrecy begets more secrecy and it becomes a downward spiral that destroys teamwork. What if you put an end to all the secrecy by bringing it out in the open? [Hervorhebung von mir]

Nordkorea hat seine Red Star Linux-Distribution aktualisiert und dem OS in der dritten Version ein neues Outfit verpasst. Lehnte sich das Nordkorea-OS in Version zwei noch an Windows an, ist die aktuelle Version eindeutig von Apples OSX inspiriert, Kim Jong Un ist wohl generell eher ein Apple-Typ. The latest version of the country’s home-grown operating system, Red Star Linux, has been restyled and ships with a desktop that closely resembles Apple’s Mac OSX. The previous version was based on the popular KDE desktop that mimicked that of Windows 7.

Red Star Linux was developed by the Korea Computer Center (KCC), a major center of software programming in Pyongyang, and is based on Linux, the open-source operating system originally developed by Linus Torvalds.

Now, thanks to Will Scott, an American computer scientist who was lecturing at Pyongyang University of Science and Technology at the end of 2013, we can see version 3. It was apparently released earlier in the year. Scott says he purchased the software from a KCC retailer in southern Pyongyang and hasn’t made any modifications to it.
