Left Behind the book series (and Kirk Cameron relevance generator) is getting a full-blown feature film (sans Kirk Cameron). Instead, it features Nic Cage as the pilot whose wife leaves him for Jesus, and here is your first clip.
The official synopsis has this picture centered around "a small group of survivors are left behind after millions of people suddenly vanish and the world is plunged into chaos and destruction," but let's flesh that out a bit. Based on the novels by Tim LaHaye and Jerry B. Jenkins, this movie is really about the dispensationalist interpretation of the "End of Days." You see, all modern-day believers are raptured, leaving this world a mess. The Antichrist appears (in a secret form) and it's just all bad news. Nic Cage and his movie daughter play a few leftovers (which is also the name of a very good end-of-days book). Together, they start a Tribulation Force to try and help save lost souls like themselves and prepare for "THE TRIBULATION" which God is about to unleash on the Earth for seven years.
Thanks to the movie's Facebook site, we now have the very first clip from the the religious apocalypse flick, although it's a rough cut according to the producers.
I was running through the rough cut of Left Behind again today and thought you guys might like a little tiny peek. It's temporary music and it hasn't been color corrected etc, but hey, it's better than nothing right? Enjoy. - Paul
There's still no official release date yet, but we'll keep you updated.
