When millions of people from the future arrive in the present day, seeking asylum, a small rural community is overwhelmed. That's the incredibly cool concept of Refugees, a new show BBC Worldwide is developing with Spanish company Astresmedia.

The show is a joint development, meaning it'll air in Spain as well as the U.K. — but because it's being shot in English, the BBC aims to sell it all over the English-speaking world. The deal is being touted as an innovative example of the BBC collaborating with continental Europe on TV deals — but the concept behind the show sounds really fascinating in its own right. Here's hoping we get it Stateside at some point.
